Franschhoek – Wedding Photography

The Cape Winelands is usually on every tourist’s list of  “must see” places when visiting Cape Town.  But have you ever wondered why this unique area is so popular for wedding photo shoots?

Many couples dream of wedding photos in the tapestry of rolling vineyards which is ever changing with the seasons.  If you do a quick search for “wedding photography in the Cape Winelands”  you’ll soon understand why.  The evocative images are of happy couples, their photographer posing them in front of beautiful whitewashed gabled manor houses.  They walk along tree lined avenues and frolic in the vineyards.  Usually it will almost always involve a 360 degree viewof some of South Africa’s most spectacular mountain ranges.

Only an hours drive from the centre of Cape Town, the Cape Winelands is easily accessible.  And for those wedding couples who may have guests a little heavy handed on the estate wines, many venues offer accommodation where they are able to book an overnight stay.

The wine industry in South Africa dates as far back as the mid 1600’s.   With fertile land and an ideal climate for growing grapes, the first wine was produced in South Africa in 1659.  Today the Cape Winelands produces some of the world’s finest wines.  Naturally if you choose to have your wedding photoshoot on a wine estate, you and your guests will get to enjoy these world class wines too.

When choosing wedding venues in the Cape Winelands, you are literally spoilt for choice.  Many estates offer a “one stop shop” for a bridal photoshoot.  That means there is usually a dedicated space for both the bride and groom to do their preparations.  Ceremonies happen on site, either in the wine cellar or outdoors in beautifully manicured gardens.  Some estates even have wedding chapels.  When it comes to the wedding  reception, expect either a  beautifully restored historical farm building, or a new, modern architectural delight.

We would love to photograph your wedding in the Cape Winelands.  Have a look at our wedding photography packages.  If you have any questions, we would love to answer them over a cup of coffee.  If you are not based in Cape Town, please reach out via our contact page.
