Analia & Jacques

Doing a maternity shoot for a couple whose wedding you shot a few years back is always such an honour.  We are so privileged to be able to capture such precious memories for our couples and to be able to document some of the important events in their life story.

We did this maternity shoot just in time though.  It was literally a month until Analia’s due date, but little Kaitlyn Charlotte had other plans, and made an early arrival into this world!  Congrats guys, you are going to be such wonderful parents.  You both have so much love in your hearts!

It’s great doing a maternity shoot at an awesome location.  But to us it’s even more special when it’s done at the couple’s home.  Things are real, and of course the furry kids get to be part of the action too!  For us as photographers there is always the added edge of finding creativity in someone else’s home.  Ultimately you want to capture something that’s unique and reflects “them” as a couple.  Analia and Jacques’ maternity shoot was at their home in Melkbos.They are both very sentimental people and they adore animals.  When we arrived, Jacques was beavering away in the baby’s room.  Although it was still a work in progress, you could feel the love that’s gone in to everything.  From the fresh coat of paint on the headboard, to the baby bath that used to belong to Jacques when he was little, to the Beatrix Potter themed bedding.

We took a few photos inside, and then went out into the garden.  Although the rain was threatening, it held off, and the sun broke through the clouds for a few minutes and we got some lovely shots.  Jacques is a keen gardener and it was so sweet to see how proud Analia is of his hard work.  They have literally created a little bird’s paradise in their back yard, and it’s one of their favourite places to spend time.  The furry kids where very happy to be included in a few of the outside photos too!
