Cape Town Jewish Wedding

Yakira & Boaz

We haven’t photographed a Cape Town Jewish wedding in quite a while. It was great being able to capture some special moments for Yakira & Boaz on their special day at Cafe Riteve. Jewish weddings are filled with tradition and emotion. They certainly are great for capturing spontaneous moments. What made this Cape Town Jewish wedding even more special was that it coincided with Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights.

Yakira & Boaz are true sentimentals at heart. Although Joburg based, they chose Cape Town as the destination for their wedding. Yakira got dressed in her gran and grandad’s home. There were gorgeous heirlooms from great Gran’s handbag, to new ones being created. One of these, Yakira’s beautiful dress adorned with hand painted flowers done by her and her mom. Definitely something to be passed down to future generations. How special too, that Yakira’s mom did her make up for her?

From the bedeken to the final Mazel Tov, there were so many beautiful moments during the ceremony. To us, the most emotional moment was Boaz’s heartfelt song as Yakira was walked down the aisle by her mom and dad. Had to hold back a little tear there for sure!

We were a little short on time for the couple shoot, but we did manage to sneak off to the Company’s gardens for a few photos while guests enjoyed canapes in the courtyard of Cafe Riteve. We had a huge bag of peanuts in anticipation for the pesky little squirrels that live in the Gardens. They seemed to be rather shy that day, but one lucky little critter got to snack on some peanuts!

Yakira & Boaz, thank you for trusting us with your special moments. We loved being part of your wedding day. Looking forward to our next Cape Town Jewish wedding!
