Where do we even begin telling you about Stacy & Jason’s Catharinas wedding? I’m not sure I really know, but what I can say for sure is that this wedding left us on such a high!

Every now and again, one of those weddings comes along that is perfect in every way – well from the photographer’s viewpoint, that is. You drive home, kind of thinking wow – that was just too good to be true. But in this case it was.

And now I can hear you all saying, what makes a wedding perfect? Perfect could mean different things to different people. For us, Stacy and Jason’s Catharinas wedding ticked all the boxes.

Let’s start with an unbelievably gorgeous venue. At Steenberg Estate, you are literally spoilt for choice with backdrops for taking photographs. We loved the beautiful no frills décor which was just enough to enhance the already pretty interior. Let’s not even mention the delicious food and the fact that you feel more like a guest than a service provider. Yes this does make a difference and something which would make us recommend one venue above the rest.

A cloudy day when we knew we’d have to shoot in the tricky bright midday sun (bonus.) Add to that a couple who are madly in love.

Not only that, they are spontaneous, and not because they are acting for the camera, it’s just how they ARE as human beings. A bride with flat shoes – YES! That does make a difference to our lives as photographers. It means they can move quickly, and not disappear into the grass with their stilettos!Another favourite for us is an intimate wedding. The couple actually gets to mingle with all of their guests, and we get the opportunity to capture spontaneous moments. We WAY prefer taking photos at a wedding reception than sitting waiting for moments to unfold whilst looking at our watches and wishing the time would pass!

And now that our 101 guide to what makes us happy photographers is over, let’s get back to our gorgeous couple. Stacy & Jason are such real people. Their hearts are in the right place. They will be together until they are old and wrinkly, and they will still hold each other’s hands and kiss each other good night before they go to sleep. That’s just how it is.

Stacy and Jason, we are so incredibly honoured that you chose us to document your Catharinas wedding. Someday we’ll have to go back and explore all those spots we never got to! Hope you love your images as much as we loved taking them!
