This De Uijlenes wedding was such a treat to photograph.  De Uijlenes has been one of those ever elusive venues.  We’ve been dying to photograph a wedding there, but just never seemed to get an enquiry!  And finally when Marieke & Jan booked us to document their special day, we were ecstatic.

As Cape Town wedding photographers, we get to shoot at such beautiful venues in and around Cape Town itself.  But it’s always such a pleasure going on a little road trip to a wedding venue that is out of town.  The scenery and surroundings are different and you get to see the world through new eyes.

De Uijlenes wedding venue is rustic and unpretentious.  No matter how you dress this venue, it is just downright gorgeous and romantic.   Marieke & Jan’s choice of décor personified them both down to a tee.  Their soft romantic side represented by all of the fairy lights and bare bulbs, and their love for nature and the outdoors with beautiful blooms found locally in the surrounding mountains.

The boys got ready in the old stable, while the girls did their preparations just down the road in Franskraal.  Marieke & Jan’s wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful secluded forest amidst tall trees and arum lilies.

As with all wedding days, most things are unpredictable, including the weather.  And so it was that the rain came out to tease from time to time.  It’s believed to be a blessing if it rains on your wedding day.  And there could not be two nicer people on which a blessing is bestowed than Marieke & Jan.  They are two gentle souls who complement each other so perfectly.

What a beautiful couple you are Marieke and Jan.  Your De Uijlenes wedding was just perfect.  We wish you so much love for the future!
