Fynbos Estate Wedding
Helen & Katie
This Fynbos Estate wedding was such a treat to photograph! We’ve never photographed a wedding were there were nearly as many furry guests as human ones!
Helen & Katie’s intimate Fynbos Estate wedding was on one of those perfect winters’ days in the Cape. When the sun shine is warm and there is not a breath of wind. It almost felt like summer. It certainly was the #wrightday for a wedding! We loved Helen and Katie’s hash tag for their special day (Helen’s surname is Wright, and Katie’s is Dey!) and it could not have been more fitting.
Fynbos Estate is one of those unpretentious venues. It has a rustic charm and it feels more like a home than a wedding venue. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous and makes the perfect backdrop for wedding photos.
But enough about the venue. Let’s talk about Helen and Katie. Theirs is an interesting love story. It has many twists to it. Probably the biggest and BEST twist of all, a beautiful little soul called Hugh who made an unexpected appearance.
And now they are three. Well, no, actually they are 6 when you add their fur babies Gus, Henry and the 3 legged Charlie – yes that’s right – Charlie only has 3 legs, but he certainly manages to keep up with his siblings – no problem! They all looked so cute in their bow ties handmade by Katie!
Helen & Katie decided to keep things small and intimate with only their nearest and dearest. What a wonderful bunch of people. A more laid back vibe would be hard to come by.
Helen and Katie’s Fynbos Estate wedding reminded us again what wedding days should really be about. About to people who really love each other, the people (and creatures) that are important to them and about keeping it real.
What an honour to have been part of this special celebration of love.
These words from John Lennon seem so fitting.
“It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how much you love. It only matters that you love.”
