Guest House Photography McGregor
Yellowstone Cottages
I’ve done quite a bit of guest house photography in McGregor to date. I absolutely love hopping in the car and doing a road trip to one of my favourite country villages. There’s definitely a common denominator to all of the guesthouses I have photographed there. I DON’T WANT TO LEAVE! No seriously! All of the owners have taken so much care to create the perfect little haven for a country escape.
Yellowstone Cottages in Mill Street was no different. I was referred to them by Mira of McGregor Country Getaways. And in this case, I actually got to meet the lovely owners. Allie and Peter van den Berg are such a welcoming pair. I loved the feel of the cottages. Light, bright and airy. The wonderful patio doors that spill onto the stoep and garden are really such a special place. I could imagine whiling away summer evening there with a bottle of McGregor wine enjoying the fabulous bird life and watching the world go by. And when it’s cold, the cozy indoor fireplaces would be perfect!
Guest house photography is quite an introspective job. Most of our work has us interacting with people for more than 8 hours at a go. This is different. You spend 8 hours on your own! And when you are a bit of a social butterfly, you sometimes find yourself talking to the furniture after a while.
Kind of like Me: “Chair, won’t you move a little to the right. You are blocking the view of the fireplace there.” Chair: No reply. Me: “Ok, I’ll just move you myself then!”
It’s challenging, and working with a tripod is back breaking at times. But I kind of like the edge of bringing out the best in the space that someone has lovingly created for others.
This guest house photography project comprised of 2 cottages. The first cottage sleeps 4, and would be ideal for a small family. It has a full bathroom with bath and shower. It’s fully self catering, and has every amenity that you’d need. The patio area is fabulous and spills out from the living area. It’s perfect for sundowners, lazy lunches or an evening braai.
The second cottage or ‘Honeymoon Cottage’ as it’s known is perfect for a romantic getaway. A cute little open plan space beautifully decorated. I absolutely LOVED the outside shower. Perfect place to cool down in summer! Just as with the other cottage, this one too has a lovely patio area and is fully self catering.
I’ll let the photos give you a little peek as to how gorgeous Yellowstone Cottages are. And if you’d like to get in touch and make a booking visit the Yellowstone Cottages website to enquire.
