This Houwhoek Hotel Wedding was a walk down memory lane for us. A touch of nostalgia indeed. It was at the very same venue we said our own “we dos” 18 years ago!

We were so excited when Mandy and Shaun contacted us. We love out of town weddings. Add to that a venue that has a special connection and the fact that we adore winter weddings. So, to say we were very happy photographers when they went ahead and booked us for their Houwhoek Hotel wedding was an understatement.

We met up with Mandy and Shaun for a coffee date a few months before their special day. We knew immediately that these two would be super laid back on their wedding day. We were so right. For them, it was about being surrounded by their specials and basking in the love and winter sunlight.

Both the guys and girls got dressed on the property. It was fabulous just parking the car, and only ever getting in it again when we left.

Mandy and Shaun literally made their date by the skin of their teeth. They already had to make adjustments to their timeline to accommodate the new curfew. But just one week later South Africa went up another lockdown level. They would definitely not have been able to go ahead with their special day.

What a glorious winters day Mandy and Shaun had for their Houwhoek hotel wedding. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapes out in the sunshine. Once the chill set in, everyone was cozy inside with the fireplace roaring.
