Monkey Valley Resort Wedding

Lara & Matthew

Lara & Matthew’s Monkey Valley Resort Wedding,  with its splash of Scottish flair was such a treat to photograph.

The Couple

The first time met these two was over a beer in a quirky little eatery alongside the canals of Century City. We were immediately drawn to them. These two lovelies whose story started at an airport could not be more perfect for each other.Loved their vibe and their laid back, care free spirit. And of course, when they told us Matthew would be wearing a kilt, we were even more excited about the prospect of capturing their special day. We love a splash of tradition at weddings. I mean, how can a red haired lad called Matthew Walker NOT have honoured his heritage! Driving home we were REALLY hoping they would book us. It turned out they liked us too, and so it was that we got to capture their special day.

The Wedding Day

Cape Town dished out one of those stellar days for Lara & Matthew’s Monkey Valley Resort wedding. A beautiful sunny day to match all of the gorgeous sunflowers.  There was just enough of a breeze to cool things down a little.

Monkey Valley Resort is tucked away in a milkwood forest on the slopes of the Noordhoek mountains. The setting for the wedding ceremony is rather unique.  It’s in a little ravine completely surrounded by overgrowth. The beach is only a stone’s throw away! Perfect to pop down for a sunset shoot. From the wrap around deck at the reception area you have the vista of the the blue waters of Noordhoek beach. Once inside you are cozy and well looked after by Mireille who is as much part of the venue as the beautiful milk woods!

Lara and Matthew, what an honour capturing the special moments of your Monkey Valley Resort Wedding. What a lovely bunch of family and friends you have. We hope that our images tell the story of your special day.  May you treasure these memories for many years to come.
