Ashley & Gideon

Ashley & Gideon’s Montpellier wedding probably happened on the hottest day of the year.  The kind of heat where you can drink 50 litres of water, and feel like you’ve had nothing!  The kind of heat that takes me straight back to my childhood – yes , I grew up in this area, and riding our bicycles to school and back was torture in the summer months!

But enough about the weather, and let’s move on to our lovely couple.  We only met Ashley and Gideon on the day of their wedding.  And what an international affair this Montpellier wedding was!  Guests travelled from all over the country with a large bulk of the guests making the trip across the oceans from Holland.  Ashley is of Dutch decent, and how lovely that so many of her family members were there for their special day!

The little chapel on the hill at Montpellier is one of the most picturesque chapels in the Western Cape.  It’s such a pretty setting in between the vineyards.  The thick walls keep it nice and cool inside.  The vintage farm truck transported guests to the chapel, and it was quite something seeing our elegant bride climbing off the back of the truck when she arrived at the chapel! After the ceremony canapes were served on the lawn in front of the stately manor house and it was the perfect setting for family and friends to chill and catch up.

Listening to the speeches, it’s clear that Ashley and Gideon both come from close knit families.  How lovely that they are all one big family now!

When we asked Ashley if there were any special mentions she would like to make, she had the following to say:

“It is hard because I would like to make everyone feel special 🙂 If you can mention the owner of Montpellie , Luckas van Tonder, he meant the world to us. And Montpellier wine farm. I would also like a special thanks to all the family from the Netherlands and Anja Du Plessis – Gideon’s sister that came from France to attend the wedding. And then the Bridal party and our parents for making the day happen. Also, my mother – Angelique Ritsema who did my hair and Pastor Pieter that came all the way from the Strand Baptist Church to get us hitched.”

Ashley and Gideon, thank you for trusting us with your memories of your lovely Montpellier wedding.
