Once in Cape Town
Once in Cape Town is a colourful eclectic “allstar” establishment located in the vibey Kloof Street in the Cape Town city centre. If you’re young at heart and want a convenient base from which to explore both the city and the peninsula, Once in Cape Town is perfect for you.
Besides having Kloof Street on your doorstep, Once in Cape Town is also within walking distance of Cape Town’s trendy Long Street, as well as the Company Gardens. The iconic art deco Labia movie theatre is also just around the corner. In fact you could spend an entire day just taking in the vibe at Once in Cape Town. There is a wonderful deli, Yours Truly on the premises. They offer good coffee and craft beer as well as a variety of yummy sarmies, flatbreads and other delectable goodies. You don’t need to be a resident to grab a drink or a bite here. It’s a great place for a business meeting, or to chill with the eclectic Cape Town crowd or even to make new friends with world travelers. If you’re lucky you may get to meet the proprietors bulldog, Molly. She is so gorgeous and super friendly too! There is a lovely covered courtyard in the backyard, and a number of chilling and techie spaces indoors too.
Once in Cape Town offers double, twin and family rooms, all tastefully decorated. Each room has an ensuite bathroom. The dorm rooms are nothing short of amazing. Each 4 bed bunk room has a different theme. The beds are cleverly designed with a box at the head of each bed. This has international and local plug outlets inside. The mini wooden chest locks up so you can leave your valuables safely inside and even have your laptop charging all day while you’re out exploring the city. The mattresses are extra length, and extra thick with soft white linen. There is locker space in each room too.
Each four person room has an ensuite bathroom too. We have travelled quite extensively, and I must say we have never come across this! Usually you have to carry your toilet bag down the passage and get naked in front of a bunch of strangers! Some of them even have a beautiful view of Table Mountain from the shower. Try and beat that!
The trendy upstairs deck is perfect for sundowners with a beautiful view of Lions Head and the bustling Kloof street below.
Networking is such a fabulous thing, and sometimes one underestimates the power thereof. We were first introduced to Once in Cape Town when we attended a Travel Massive Event there.
We met Kim on the evening and we exchanged business cards. So it came about that she contacted us to do a small shoot of a couple of the areas at Once in Cape Town. This is by no means a full shoot, and only shows a TINY part of the hotel, but I think you can get a pretty good idea how awesome it is.
Once in Cape Town offers a fabulous “Staycation.” This is a great way for locals to play tourists in their own city. The staycation includes a night for two at Once in Cape Town, dinner at a local restaurant and a movie screening at the Labia theatre. Not only that, you get breakfast thrown in too! It’s our anniversary this weekend, so we’ll be doing just that. We can’t WAIT!
Cheers to sleep, eat and explore!
