Stellenbosch Matric Dance Photos

Jana & Mikayla

We had such a fun afternoon taking these Stellenbosch matric dance photos.  What an honour documenting this very special moment in the lives of these young people.    Back in the day, doing a shoot for your matric dance was not the thing.  You had one or two portraits taken at the venue, which was usually the school or town hall, and that was it!  These days the kids get to have pre-drinks and then the event is held at a gorgeous hand selected venue.  Couples have their personal photographer who does a shoot of their very own before the event.  How times have changed;  but for the better I think.  Moments are there for celebrating,  and images immortalize those moments.

We met up with Jana, Mikayla, their partners and families at the Stellenbosch Hotel in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch.  We took a few family photos in the courtyard and then a couple in the colourful street outside.

Time was not on our side, and rain was threatening, so we had to get going to the venue.

Pre-drinks were held at the gorgeous Simondiums Country Lodge.  Wow – what a venue!  Would love to shoot a wedding there sometime!  And we did not even get to explore the whole place!  We took a few more images and then left the girls to enjoy the last of the pre-drinks before they headed off to the venue for their special event.

Your final school year, is such a watershed moment in a young person’s life.  It’s the transition from being a scholar, to going out into the big wide world.  We are so happy to have met you Jana, Michaela and your lovely partners.  We wish you all the best for your future.  Thank you for allowing us a little glimpse into your lives.  We loved taking your Stellenbosch matric dance photos!
