Sutherland farm wedding
Danel & Nico
Where do we even begin to describe the awesomeness of this Sutherland Farm wedding? Is there even a word like “awesomeness?” Danel & Nico’s wedding was the epitome of what a wedding day should actually be all about, well in my opinion of course.
And what should that be, you may ask? Well, firstly, weddings should be all about love, and there was just a WHOLE lot of loving. But it’s more than that. It’s how Danel and Nico stayed true to themselves. How their families worked tirelessly to transform an old farm shed into a wedding “venue.” Testimony of how loved they both are, friends and family traveled from near and far to almost the middle of nowhere to be with them on their special day. And then there is the salt of the earth farm hospitality. We’re talking of people who are able to look good in “veldskoens,” who have “bokdrol” spitting competitions and who hug you even though you are a complete stranger. And how many wedding ceremonies are photobombed by alpacas I ask you? I could ramble on and on
On a wind still, warm day in mid September (as a side note, just one week before, there had been a sprinkling of snow) on the beautiful farm Blesfontein, just under 30 km from Sutherland, two families united.
They came together to create magic for two young souls madly in love and oh so CLEARLY meant to be by each other’s side until the cows, or in this case, the sheep come home.
Danel and Nico’s Sutherland farm wedding had everything that excites us about wedding photography. A stunning, madly in love couple, spontaneous moments galore, a bride who laughs from her tummy. And then I honestly can say the scenery during the couple shoot was goose bump material. Sunset on the edge of an escarpment in the Karoo – it does not get much better than that.
Danel and Nico, it was an honour and privilege to have been part of your most beautiful Sutherland Farm wedding day. We hope that our images keep the memories alive for many years to come. And we hope that one day when you are old and grey hairs are showing, that you will still sit on that escarpment as you did on your wedding day.
Much love and gratitude.
