The Malan Family

What a treat spending time with the Malan family during their Yzerfontein family photoshoot.  The weather certainly was not great, I was nursing a horrible toothache and we’d just attended a funeral.  My goodness these lovelies were able to brighten up an otherwise dreary Sunday.  They just have the most amazing energy and bond between them.

We go way back with Nicola and Koos.  We shot their wedding quite a few years ago.  Subsequently we photographed their gorgeous little family on their farm outside Wellington.  This time Nicola wanted to incorporate one of their favourite places to spend time.  They have a wonderful holiday home in Yzerfontein, so she suggested we do their family photoshoot in this lovely seaside village just a short drive up the West Coast.

It certainly was not a sunny day at the beach.  In fact it was rather chilly, and there was a nasty little wind blowing.   Looking at the photos, you’d never say so!

The Malans were such a breath of fresh air!  And getting their feet, and slightly more wet was all part of the fun!

We started off with a few shots in the nature garden and on the cliffs overlooking the bay.  The swells were quite large, and we had to keep an eye on them whist on the rocks!  We also went down to the little slipway in the harbour, and then ended off on the beautiful long stretch of sandy beach.  With all of the running about, we all seemed to have actually warmed up a little!

Thank you to the Malan Family for giving us a little glimpse into why you love this place so much.  We really had such a fun afternoon with you during your Yzerfontein family photoshoot.  The dive out there was so worthwhile and you all brightened up our day.
