Cape Town City Wedding
Shani & Hans-Christoph
A Cape Town city wedding at the Centre for the Book is very high up in the pecking order of bucket list places where we love photographing weddings. There’s something about shooting in the city centre that really REALLY appeals to us. Being wedding photographers in Cape Town, we are spoilt for choice. There is a whole host of city venues to choose from.
Usually couples who decide on a Cape Town city wedding are not your run of the mill type. They are more the non-conventional, out of the box thinkers. They bring a bit of an alternative flair to their wedding day. And that, in itself ticks all of the right boxes for us!
When Shani made her enquiry for the Centre for the Book, we sent a tiny message to the universe asking that she and Hans please book us for their wedding. The confirmation email came through, and we could not have been more thrilled.
THE STARS OF THE SHOW OF THIS CAPE TOWN CITY WEDDING AT THE CENTRE FOR THE BOOK
When we met Shani & Hans-Christoph for a cup of coffee, we soon realized that when a theologian and a linguist collide, the stars must most certainly align. These two really go together like copy and paste. The quieter, more rational Hans-Christoph is the perfect balance for the bubbly and busy bee that is Shani.
I don’t think we have ever met a bride more eager for her wedding day to arrive. Shani could literally not contain herself, even thought there were still quite a number of months to go! Both Shani & Hans love history and architecture. It was not surprising that they chose one of Cape Town’s historical buildings, the Centre for the Book as their wedding venue.
THE WEDDING DAY & RECEPTION AT THE CENTRE FOR THE BOOK
It was special photographing both Hans-Christoph & Shani getting ready. Hans had his mom and dad with him. It was wonderful witnessing the bond they have. The girls were all about the hype. The laughs already started early on in the day! The ceremony took place in the Lutheran church in Wynberg, and the reception followed at the Centre for the Book in the Cape Town city centre. You may notice that Shani had a total of three dresses in one. How amazing is that? We also loved the German traditions on the day, especially the Baumkuchen or “tree cake” lovingly made by Han’s mom. By the time we left, the party was in full swing and guests were really having a good time!
Shani & Hans-Christoph, thank you for choosing us. Couples like you don’t come around every day. We know that the two of you are meant for each other, and we feel so privileged to have documented your most special of days. We loved everything about your wonderful Cape Town city wedding at the Centre for the Book.
