Tabassum & Azfaar

This Groot Constantia Winter weddings was a perfect way to start our July. We love love the winter light! And oh my goodness, this couple!

We first met Tabassum some time back at her friend, Shakira’s wedding.  She was the one scuttling in the background making sure things were running smoothly on the day.  And here we were a few years on, and the roles had been reversed.  This time it was Shakira straightening Tabassum’s dress in the mosque and making sure she had enough tissues for the odd tear.  Interesting how these things work.

Now let’s talk about Azfaar.  Way back when we first met Tabassum he was not even a glimmer yet.  How excited we were when we got that email to say that she’d met the love of her life and that it was her turn to be getting married.  We organized a coffee date in Canal Walk, and within minutes, we could immediately see these two were meant to be.  Azfaar,  a gentle guy, with a wicked sense of humour and a fierce commitment to his favourite football team, but most of all such absolute adoration for his bride to be.  The way Tabassum’s eyes light up when she is near him, says it all.

Tabassum and Azfaar’s Groot Constantia winter wedding was over two days.  The first day saw the Nikkah ceremony while the second day was the celebrations and couple shoot at Groot Constantia.  The Nikkah ceremony always yields emotional moments, especially for the close family and friends.  It’s documentary photography at its best.  Not always easy, but you try to find the best vantage point you can (yes, short people problems for some of us) and just click away as the moments unfold.

On the second day it was the preparations at the respective homes.  And then those moments of the first look.  Don’t think we’ve ever had such an eager groom to see his bride!  We kept on getting messages up the passageway, asking when he could come and see Tabassum for the first time in her wedding gown.

The reception was held at the Islamia Function Hall.  Everyone was so beautifully dressed.  Outfits made from the most colourful of fabrics and celebrations being enjoyed to the fullest with the couple.

Tabassum had organized for the couple shoot to be at Groot Constantia.    Rain was threatening, but it managed to hold off, and we had beautiful soft overcast light to work with.

The evening ended with us capturing Tabassum leaving her home for the final time – another tear jerker of note.

Tabassum and Azfaar, you two are amazing!  Thank you so much for staying loyal to us over the years.  We’ll never forget what you said at the last wedding we saw you at:  “One day when I get married, you guys are going to take my photos.”  We are so honoured that it became a reality.

May your slogan in life always be:  “You’ll never walk alone.”
