A Kirstenbosch proposal that was NOT just “a walk in the park to take pretty pictures of proteas for your mom.”

PLANNING THE SECRET KISTENBOSCH PROPOSAL

As you guessed from above, Terri had no idea what was going down. Kirstenbosch happens to be one of her favourite places. She was excited to be taking Pawel there as part of their itinerary during their visit to Cape Town. Little did she know that he had other plans.

After a few to and fro emails we had it all planned. On the morning of the shoot, Pawel sent us an image of the two of them at breakfast. This way we would easily be able to recognize them. The plan was that once they had arrived and Pawel had found the perfect “spot,” he’d message us.

THE PROPOSAL

We got there early just to scan the area. It was a super hot and balmy day. Map in hand we waited with excited anticipation for the message. The spot turned out to be the protea garden. And guess where we were? The lake! We huffed and puffed up the winding path, past the cycad garden and to the top of the park where we spotted Terri & Pawel. Thanks for that photo, Pawel, we immediately recognized you guys and Terri’s yellow sun dress!

Pretending to be tourists taking photos of the gardens, we waited excitedly. The first set of images below was the actual proposal it all went down, and not a recreation. Terri’s reaction was priceless. What a privilege to have documented this very special moment in time!

We let Terri & Pawel bask in the glow for a while before ending off with a couples shoot. Thank you Pawel for choosing us to document your sweet Kirstenbosch proposal. You know we’d literally climb mountains for you!
