Muslim wedding
Kaashifa & Mo
This Cape Town rainy day Muslim wedding was fabulous. It’s amazing how families have the ability to creep into your heart. One ends up feeling quite teary when going through the images to make the selection for the blog post. It’s so much more real when you have a connection to someone. Kaashifa and Mo, it feels more like we are part of your respective families than just the “wedding photographers.”
BUILD UP TO THE WEDDING DAY
Kaashifa & Mo’s rainy day Cape Town Muslim wedding weekend started on the Friday evening with the Bari. Kaashifa looked absolutely amazing. Adorned in gold and emerald and with bold make-up, she and her family awaited the arrival of her soon to be hubby and his family. The evening was filled with lively Indian music, delicious treats, blingy outfits and all round festivity leading up to the wedding day.
RAIN COULD NOT DULL THE SPIRITS OF THIS MUSLIM WEDDING IN CAPE TOWN
On the day of the wedding, the weather forecast did not look good. It felt a bit like de ja vu, as it was exactly the same as the day we photographed Kaashifa’s sister’s wedding. And there we found ourselves once again in the Aziz home, in Kaashifa’s mom and dad’s bedroom with the same scenes playing out in front of us, but just with another beautiful sister.
The Nikah ceremony had it’s emotional moments as usual. Once the serious matters were over, it was so lovely to spend a little quiet time with the bride and groom inside the mosque before they went to their respective homes to change into their evening reception outfits.
The couple shoot was at the Old Indian Embassy in Constantia. What a magnificent setting. But my oh my did it pour down with rain. A real winters day in Cape Town. And the whole way through, Kaashifa and Mo only had eyes for each other. It’s as if they did not even notice the rain. Kaashifa’s dress was sopping wet, and we were silently cringing at what Shahied would say if he saw it!
The evening reception took place at Islamia.
Kaashifa and Mo, thank you for trusting us with your precious memories. It was an honour to have been a part of your rainy day Cape Town Muslim wedding!
We leave you with these words: “And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.’ – Gilbert K. Chesterton
