Cape Town maternity shoot

Hope

A Cape Town maternity shoot that exceeded our wildest of expectations. And we mean in every possible way!

CAPE TOWN WEATHER, A CASE OF FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY

On the day of our shoot, the rain came bucketing down. As our lovely mom to be was not from Cape Town, it would be impossible to reschedule.. Although the weather for the next day looked vaguely better, we all know Cape Town weather is unpredictable at the best of times. We decided to put our trust in the weather gods and took a leap of faith to postpone for a day. It was the best decision ever, albeit a case of “four seasons in one day” for this Cape Town maternity shoot!

CAPE TOWN MATERNITY SHOOT AND A LADY IN RED

Enough about the weather. We met lovely mom to be Hope, her two kiddies and her sister in the car park at Windmill Beach in Simonstown. They piled out the car and Hope said she just wanted to do a quick change. As they snuck into the change room, we made our way down to the beach in the meantime. The weather was pretty gloomy and rain was threatening. But it did mean the light was gorgeous. The other good thing about inclement weather is that we pretty much had the beach to ourselves!

You know those moments that take your breath away? There were to many to count. Well, as Hope made her way onto the beach in a bright red flowing dress, it was as if she enticed the sun to come out and play. The most beautiful smile and joyous laugh. The pop of her dress, against a multitude of aquamarine and turquoise hues was absolute perfection. Even the breeze played along at just the right moments. We literally did not want this Cape Town maternity shoot to end.

Right at the end of the shoot, a gender reveal. It’s a boy! Congratulations Hope, this little guy is going to be so loved!

And guess what? Literally as we took our last photo, the rain came pelting down again! Moments like these, truly do take our breaths away! Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves when we remember that we get to call this “work!”
