This Franschhoek honeymoon photoshoot was the perfect way to while away a November afternoon.

FRANSCHHOEK AS A HONEYMOON DESTINATION

The Cape winelands has always been a popular honeymoon destination. Now couples are taking it a step further by booking a honeymoon photoshoot. Franschhoek has a multitude of beautiful properties and estates which create the perfect canvas for gorgeous images. We love being part of these stories and meeting the wonderful people we do.

Sarah & Wouter got married in Belgium in April of this year. It was always the plan to wait a few months before flying to South Africa for a destination honeymoon. When we asked them why the wait, their answer was “to enjoy the sunnier weather.” On the day of their Franschhoek honeymoon photoshoot, the weather gods decided to play silly buggers with them. It was gloomy and in fact, quite chilly.

Sarah & Wouter were not going to let the weather dim their spirits. Dressed to the nines in their wedding attire (which they lugged all the way from Belgium,) they appeared all smiles in the foyer of their boutique hotel, Auberge Clermont. We spent the first half of the shoot taking photos at the beautiful property. We were spoilt for choice with backdrops. From vineyards, to a river, to the provencal style architecture. A little bit of everything.

For the second part of Sarah & Wouter’s Franschhoek honeymoon photoshoot, we took a little drive to the mountains. We did not have the golden light we had hoped for, but the clouds created a bit of drama, and the colours certainly popped. In the long run, the weather actually created a gorgeous backdrop for these two love birds.
