A Kagga Kamma elopement! Oh the joy of travelling to the Cederberg wilderness area for Mariaan and Shaun’s special union.

THE SETTING FOR THIS KAGGA KAMMA ELOPEMENT

Kagga Kamma, in the Swartruggens region of the Cederberg Mountains is set in an untouched and unique wilderness area. Think vast red sands, towering rock formations and big skies. All this interspersed with some of the most rare plants and creatures on earth. Not discounting the ostrich at the gate who was part of the welcoming committee for this Kagga Kamma elopement!

We were absolutely over the moon when Mariaan & Shaun booked us to shoot their elopement. I mean come on, any excuse to pack the car and go on a one night road trip.

AN ELOPEMENT IN THE TRUE SENSE

Most of the time, when couple’s elope, close family and friends are vaguely aware that something is brewing. In the case of Mariaan & Shaun, they chose to keep it a total secret. And we had to play along, promising not to spill the beans. After posting the mystery image of Mariaan’s sneakers in the dry lake bed on Instagram, we received so many private messages from people wanting to know more. But we’d made a pinkie promise!

What a special few hours spent with these two at the beautiful Kagga Kamma nature reserve. It was such an honour being able to document these intimate moments. And such beautiful moments these were as the rocks started glowing red and the sun dipped behind the horizon. Thank you Mariaan & Shaun for choosing us!

As a side note. Unlike some industry friends, we don’t charge additional fees for travel time. Yes, we’re that addicted to dirt roads! Other than fuel and accommodation costs you won’t receive any surprises in your final bill. So to anyone out there wanting to elope in a unique destination, give us a shout! Nowhere is to far. If you can dream it, we can do it!
