Elopement in Franschhoek

Pule & Thabo

This elopement in Franschhoek left us with all of the feels. If we could have paused the clock and spent more time with these two, we would have. It was  so special bearing witness to their union.  In the literal sense we did just this, by signing on the dotted line for them!

ELOPEMENTS FROM A CAPE TOWN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER’S POV

Elopements in Cape Town, and more specifically elopements in Franschhoek are on trend at the moment.   We LOVE photographing them!

Don’t get us wrong. We are all for the full wedding vibe experience.  We get to tell beautiful stories.  Stories that are filled to the brim with interactions and stolen moments. There are the family shenanigans. When it’s time for the group photos, we’re right there beside you when you need to track down the one uncle who is always missing. We cheer him on when he comes running, beer in hand. We brush off the bossy bridesmaids.  They are  convinced they know a better angle. We acknowledge the tipsy grooms men.  We smile at their dodgy comments. Let’s not forget to mention the crazy dance moves and the belly laughs.

Some couples choose to forego the above.  With that comes a special kind of intimacy. For anything from 2 to 4 hours, you are not just a photographer. You are a mother or father of the bride and groom. Sometimes you are a dress fitter or a make-up artist. You’re the one Googling “how to tie a windsor knot.” You’re there to discreetly hand over a tissue when tears flow. You arrive as a photographer and leave as a friend.

THE STARS OF OUR ELOPEMENT IN FRANSCHHOEK

We met Pule & Thabo for a quick zoom chat the day before their elopement. What struck us most in those few minutes was their energy. Pule’s vivacious personality, and Thabo’s beautiful smile. We knew instantly that it would be a perfect day. And it was.

Tucked away in a corner of Franschhoek lies the Cottage at Montpellier. It’s the perfect place for an intimate celebration for two. Pule & Thabo said their vows to the sound of birds singing, a lone eagle calling and the trickle of water rippling over the rocks. It does not get much better.

Pule & Thabo, what gems you are. You make us believe in true love, humanity and all that is good. It’s also not every day we get to share a bottle of Moet & Chandon with our wedding couples. Your elopement in Franschhoek will be forever etched in our bank of memories.
