Matroosberg Wedding
Bianca & Duncan
This Matroosberg wedding was quite literally the culmination of a single serendipitous meeting on the slopes of Table Mountain. It was perfect!
A MATROOSBERG WEDDING WRITTEN IN THE STARS
Sometimes, love begins not with fireworks, but with footsteps. Who would have known that on the day Bianca and Duncan set off for a hike on Table mountain their future would be written in the stars? Fast forward the hands of time, and it wouldn’t be a mountain trail they were walking down, but in wedding aisle instead!
THE SETTING
Bianca and Duncan didn’t want a traditional wedding venue. Their love began outdoors, so it only made sense that their wedding would echo the same spirit of wild wonder. They decided on a camping wedding weekend. The spot was to be the Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve outside Ceres.
Picture a clearing in the pines, beneath metres of bunting fluttering overhead. It was here that these two promised forever.
It was cold. Really cold. In fact there had been a sprinkling of snow the night before. Guests huddled together, wrapped in scarves and jackets. Dogs snuggled close to their humans. But no one seemed to mind. The chill only made the moment feel more alive. It was as if the forest itself was holding its breath for this momentous occasion.
After their vows, Bianca & Duncan had a hand fasting ceremony. One of the dogs barked, as if to offer its blessing. Guests smiled through damp eyes. And at that very moment the breeze picked up again, sending the bunting into a joyful flutter above everyone’s heads.
The forest exhaled.
THE RECEPTION
We all know that saying “it takes a village.” But, quite honestly what we witnessed at Bianca and Duncan’s Matroosberg wedding was a labour of love. They, together with a few friends tirelessly transformed the forest setting into a perfect ceremony and reception area.
Below a stretch tent for a bit of protection from the elements, were long trestle tables. These were adorned with the most beautiful and unique floral installations. They were all lovingly created by one of Bianca and Duncan’s very talented friends. Collected and foraged over time, they had one last chance to show off, before being offered back to the earth.
At lunch time, guests gathered around. On the menu, a traditional spit roast. No heels. No formalities. Just the crunch of the pine needles under foot.
THE COUPLE SHOOT
I don’t think we could have dreamt up a more perfect couple shoot, even if we’d have tried. Rain was threatening and we knew it would get dark quickly. But suddenly, as if the sky were rejoicing, the clouds lifted, and we had the most beautiful light.
Bincs and Duncs, Your Matroosberg wedding wasn’t just a celebration, it was a reflection of your journey. It was real. It was beautiful, and it was wildly true to who you are. Two souls who found each other on a mountain trail and built a life rooted in nature, adventure, and deep connection.
We hope these images bring back all of the memories, and that you will treasure them for years to come.
