Seeplaas Wedding
Kelly & Kyle
A Seeplaas wedding, a roadtrip up the garden route and one hot couple. No not us, silly, our beautiful bride and groom!
TURN BACK THE CLOCK
When Kelly & Kyle contacted us more than a year ago, we had no idea that this Seeplaas wedding would end up being high up on the list of all time favourites. Yes, wedding photographers will tell you that each wedding is their favourite. They will also secretly admit that they have a handful that REALLY stand out.
It probably started when we had our first zoom chat. We had to pinch ourselves afterwards when we realized that these two gorgeous humans had chosen us as their wedding photographers. Once all of the details of their Seeplaas wedding day fell into place, we were even more excited.
LET IT RAIN
At break of dawn on Kelly & Kyles Seeplaas wedding day the sky was ablaze. Always take heed of the shepherds warning about pink skies in the morning. The rain came pelting down. It seemed the likelihood of an outdoor ceremony, canapés with the ocean as a backdrop, and a sunset couple shoot were fast fading.
But Kelly was adamant that she wanted to go ahead with her outdoor ceremony. The rain gods obliged, and for the duration of the ceremony, canapés and group photos there was a break in the weather.
Synchronicity has a tendency to manifest itself to those who believe in magic. What are the chances of a pod of around 50 dolphins surfing the waves straight after the ceremony? Had we been indoors, we’d never have witnessed this. Or what about the fact that unbeknown to us as we climbed up onto the little railway platform the stream train would pass at that very moment? Coincidence? Or not?
When it was time to head down to the beach for the couple shoot, it started drizzling again. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said: “For after all, the best thing one can do when it’s raining, is to let it rain.” So this is exactly what we did. We didn’t realize how wet we’d all gotten until we stepped back into the venue. And as we did so, the storm really struck in full force with thunder and lighting. Another Coincidence?
Kelly and Kyle, thank you for being so amazing. Thank you for not letting the rain ruin your day. It is not always easy finding the words to say how you feel, but we hope our images convey the message.
