Stellenbosch, just an hours drive from Cape Town is at the heart of the Cape Winelands.  It’s not hard to see why it is such a popular destination for wedding photography.

If you could imagine your bridal photoshoot with a backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks, lakes, rolling vineyards and historical buildings, then Stellenbosch has them all!  The opportunities are endless.

Throw in a couple of estates offering world class wines as well as a few gastronomical delights and you have the perfect wedding venue.

The great thing about having a wedding photoshoot in Stellenbosch, is that it’s beautiful all year round  In summer when the days are long and lazy, your guests are able to be outside enjoying the glorious weather and taking in the spectacular sunsets.    In winter, the landscape is dramatic and when things get a little chilly, everyone can gather around a roaring fireplace.  In Springtime, the blossoms are out and make for really romantic wedding photos.  But our all time favourite time of year in Stellenbosch is definitely Autumn.  The vines change hues almost daily, and most evenings have a glorious pink glow.  Have a look at this Autumn or “Fall” wedding at 401 Rozendal for some beautiful vineyard scenery.

Many of the Stellenbosch venues such as Landtscap are elevated on the hillside and offer three sixty views of the surroundings.  If it’s a lakeside setting you are after, another of our favourite places for a wedding photo shoot is Webersburg Wine Estate.  You get the added bonus of beautiful mountain views too.

Some estates such as Zorgvliet have a wedding chapel on site.  Guests do not have to drive around on your special day as everything happens in one place.  Or if you prefer a more earthy, outdoor vibe, why not have an outdoor forest ceremony at a venue such as Winery Road Forest.
